I know somebody who is a drug addict (pills and cocaine) and was put in the hospital for overdose. Last I heard he was on suicide watch. What does that entail?

I think it means he is monitored 24/7 and they confiscate anything and everything that is potentially harmful, could be modified into a tool to kill himself, and he might be locked up and denied access to other areas of the hospital.
I hope he gets better.
