What Are the Benefits to Becoming an American Citizen?

Question by Matt: what are the benefits to becoming an American citizen?
I know of a lot of permanent residents that went on to become American citizens…so what is their reason for doing that, other than wanting to be an American? Is there any sort of benefits to becoming a citizen that the person wouldn’t have as a permanent resident?
