Please Help: What Do I Do About My Niece? She Is Addicted to Pain Pills Really Bad?

Question by Diana: Please help: What do I do about my niece? She is addicted to pain pills really bad?
At first I thought she wasn’t because she would have prescriptions all the time because she said she needed them cause she has muscle pain, tension, sore muscles, and toothaches and she needed a couple root canals done that she never had the money to take care of the teeth. So she takes them constantly and she was in jail for it and now she is on court supervision. It’s ruining her life. She is really anxious and crying, depressed all the time threatening suicide because she doesn’t want to go to jail. She said the hydrocodone helps her to numb the painful bad thoughts and her painful memories of rape and verbal emotional abuse from her parents. She has to be on court suervision until next year Septemebt of 2014 and her case worker gave her a random drug test last week and she said she was dirty and she is threatening to kill herself and overdose if they try to take her to jail. she said she would rather be dead than in jail and she cries everyday all the time saying that they don’t understand the pain she is in emotionally and physically with back pain and tooth pains, bad headaches. She had a lot of prescriptions and I saw the prescription bottles in her room she has over 20 prescription pill bottles of hydrocodone and codeine tylenol 3. I don’t even know how she got arrested for it all when she had legal prescriptions. Maybe someone gave her some of theirs one time when she ran out but I don’t really know the whole story. All I know is I am really scared and worried for her. I don’t want her to die. I will be very sad if she dies. She is like my little sister. I am really scared something bad is going to happen like she will go to jail or die. She says she has no hope and there is no hope for her life. I don’t like to hear her talk like that. It really scares me and worries me a lot. She is only 22 years old. She cuts herself and everything. Please help me, please! I need to know what to do so someone please help me to know what I can do to help her? I don’t want her in jail or dead. She has a daughter that needs her that is around 7 years old because she was raped and sexually attacked by her friend when she was only 14. And please this is very serious so no rude, sarcastic, and un-empathetic mean answers or I will report you. This is my families life here so please respect her and don’t talk about her like she is worthless and she deserves what she gets because that is cold hearted and mean to act like that and say stuff like that to people.
