Capitol Report: Latest Bonding Projects Yield Disappointment, Praise – Governor Mark Dayton recently announced the allocation of .5 million dollars in bonding grants, established by the 2012 legislature. A significant amount, nearly million, is slated for a new St. Paul Saints ballpark in downtown St. Paul. Julie Bartkey talks about the Governor’s decision with Senate Majority Leader David Senjem, who expressed some dissatisfaction with the final outcome. Also on the topic, Representative Ryan Winkler, DFL-Golden Valley, joins Julie to discuss the last-minute addition to the slate of Governor-approved projects– million dollars in bonding grants for the Southwest corridor light rail project. Finally, Dept. of Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson features a coordinated effort among state agencies to combat substance abuse. According to the Center of Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, state governments spend 15 percent of their budgets on drug related issues.
